Dear friends.
We, soccer fans of the Krasnodar region recently send you an open letter to urge you to reconsider the decision you made to exclude Krasnodar region and city of Krasnodar from taking part in the FIFA World Cup of soccer
competition, which will be held in Russia in 2018. We would like to add to that letter obvious facts, that we absolutely sure, will change your mind. Because we believe, that the decision you made was not entirely thought through and was half-baked.
We always thought, that the World Cup of soccer is a special event now, as never before. We view the Soccer’s World Cup as an event so transcendent of politics and prejudice that even nations embroiled in war lay down their arms and come together for a few weeks to cheer on their national team. It seems to have worked for Côte d’Ivoire, where star striker Didier Drogba spoke publicly before, during, and after the 2006 World Cup about the tournament's ability to turn his country’s attention away from civil war. And that's why we are flabbergasted, why this grand event was not awarded to the North Caucasus capital of the region, where ethnic conflicts are often broiling and pestering for a long time. And city of Krasnodar is a bright example, where numerous ethnic groups and different nationalities live in peace, and harmony. We understand that you will point to the city of Sochi as a choice for our region and Caucasus region as a whole. Let us explain, that this is a wrong choice, purely based on available infrastructure, which will be left after the Winter Olympic games. City of Sochi can not support major league team, even with the arena left after the Winter Olympic games 2014. We believe this goes against your own charter, to promote Soccer as a global and beautiful game and to promote peace. There will be no games of soccer in the city after the World Cup, no teams and no patrons to attend game and definitely no fan base and no fan support. The city of Sochi is a resort town and lives as a resort town, coming to live only for two month in the summer. City physically, because of the mountain ridge, can not grow to more then to 500k of inhabitants or it will be an ecological disaster and will have a huge impact on the national park around it and ecosystem of the Black Sea and rivers which flow through the city. There will be no future for the soccer in the city and no promotion of the world peace in the resort town. Where Krasnodar region and the city of Krasnodar has the best climate in the whole country. City is a magnet for job seekers of many nationalities, is a melting pot, and it attracts people, who would like to improve their quality of life in the best climatic condition the country can offer. Those people need sport venues and they want to participate in sports and play the game. The love for the beautiful game here is unparalleled for the whole country and may be the world. The attendance for every Soccer game here is staggering and the best in the country including city of Moscow. Fan base for the game is unbelievably strong. And organized support for their team is the third oldest in the country after Moscow and St Petersburg. Fan base in the city of Krasnodar can only be compared to one in popularity as AC Milan and Manchester United. And without being facetious, the city of Krasnodar in Russia is really and on the grand scale as Barcelona of Spain. Would you exclude Barcelona from the World Cup in Spain? Then why you exclude Krasnodar?
City of Krasnodar will only expand and grow. By 2018 the city will have 1.5 millions of people in 50 years 2.5. The whole country is resettling here with people coming from Siberia, Ural and even Moscow. Krasnodar city and the region is the future of Russia. And the future of the Russian soccer. And has a climate to play the game all year around. City and the region has numerous soccer winter leagues. Also the region has abundance of soccer schools and the best infrastructure in the country for them and may be the world. But only having this due to the passion for the game of two local sponsors Sergey Galizkij and Oleg Mkrtchan is not enough. No one in the whole country needs as much as new roads and public transit as city of Krasnodar, where re-settlers simply overflow now everything available. But the region is grossly underfunded by Moscow. Recent events in the city of Krymsk, where more then 100 people died in the flood were because of the poor infrastructure and overflow of people from every corner of the country is a bright example. It is due again to the gross underfunding from Moscow and the Putin's government. And also because of rotten political situation in Russia, which called as the vertical of power and reminds to the world no less then Mussolini's Italian fascism where all regions are depending from handouts from Moscow . And inability to govern themselves by collecting their own taxes without sending them to the center instead of spending inside the region. We are the victims of circumstances in the most rich region of the whole country, and with the region overflown with re-settlers, we need infrastructures and arenas as air we breath in, which World Cup of soccer funding will bring us.
We also believe that the decision to award city of Saransk in the republic of Mordovia was rigged. First of all, there are no Mordvins as one nationality, 53.4% of the population in the recent census 2010 in the republic of Mordovia claim themselves as Russians.
And the rest of the population are not Mordvins but ethnically Moksha and Erzia. It is artificially created region in 1918 by soviet regime as Idel-Ural republic and has nothing to do with preservation of Ugro-Finnish culture and the way of living. If you base your decision on this, you were lied to and you have to do your homework first. They are two completely different nations with their own separate history. Moksha and Erzia also mostly live all around Russia and the autonomous republic of Mordovia is NOT their original home land. Also that region is the Russian Gulag of penitentiary system. They even have the infrastructure were they imprison foreigners in Russia there, that looks like, and feels like a Nazi Germany Auschwitz concentration camp. They even have the signs there in the spirit of the Nazi camps that the work will free you. The whole region depends on funding for the Russian Gulag from Moscow and absolutely poverty stricken. People there work in Gulag or work in the economy wich is based on the penitentiary system. The region is also is an ecological disaster and one with the worst climate in the country and no way out for residents. They live in theor own GULAG. The region is also the a butt of all jokes for the rigged elections to support Mr Putin or his party of power United Russia. Giving 100% vote. They are committing the crimes and get awarded for it and you Mr. Blatter are a part of it now. Would you ever in a bad dream award World Cup of soccer to inmates of the Gulag system and people who guard them. It is an insanity.
In the light of of what happened recently. When testimony to a UK parliamentary inquiry board which was held in May 2011, David Triesman, Baron Triesman alleged that Trinidad and Tobago's Jack Warner demanded $4 million for an education center in his country and Paraguay's Nicolás Léoz asked for an honorary knighthood in exchange for their votes. Also, two Sunday Times reporters testified that they had been told that Jacques Anouma of the Ivory Coast and Issa Hayatou of Cameroon were each paid $1.5 million to support Qatar's bid for the tournament. All four have denied the allegations. Mohammed bin Hammam, who played a key role in securing the games for Qatar, withdrew as a candidate for president of FIFA in May 2011 after being accused of bribing 25 FIFA officials to vote for his candidacy. How can you even consider a place like that?
We believe that the city of Saransk was awarded against all moral principles of FIFA and its charter, and the city of Krasnodar was excluded with absolutely no viable reason. The gross injustice was done, even a crime. And you have to correct it as soon as possible.
This letter again will be send to all media outlets of the world and political institutions around the world. Stop prejudice, promote fair play everywhere! Award FIFA world Cup of soccer to places where they need the game and they play the game and to promote Soccer as a beautiful global game and build the traditions.
